A special Sunday edition
What I'm doing, reading + thinking about buying.
I’m trying something new this week and sharing a little look at my weekend and the inside of my brain. I’m counting down the days until this baby arrives, and distracting myself with a Sunday Substack feels like a good idea, so thanks for being here.
Weekend in review
I know the weekend is technically not over yet, but this was a particularly full one, and Saturday is really the only portion worth sharing. Everything else has been a little work, a lot of rest, and thinking about the fact that this baby is going to be here very soon.
I started my morning with a smoothie at Brooklyn Bridge Park, then went to check out the Harling Ross Anton backyard sale at Darling, a new(ish) kids store in Brooklyn. I’m super happy with what I found and treated myself to — a blue and green striped Marimekko Knitted Shoulderbag Merirosvo and the Éliou Pesca Fish Charm necklace (they’re both no longer available unless you get lucky on Poshmark). It started at 10 and I made sure to get there on the dot because I figured it would be packed the rest of the day.
The bag originally retails for $235 (I got it for $40), and this color is no longer available. But it’s available on sale in pink and green for $188 or in blue and white, also for $188. I promptly took it for a stroll around Cobble Hill and Dumbo. She’s beautiful.
I love this random little collection of charms on this necklace. I saw it and knew I had to have it, and I was thrilled to find out it was being sold for only $30. This specific necklace is no longer available, but I love the similarly summery Drift Necklace from Éliou and the Ollie Necklace.
After the backyard sale, I headed home, showered, changed into my May uniform, The Softest Rib Tee in butter yellow (on sale for $55) and The Drapey Denim Barrel Pant (on sale for $148), both from Hatch.
We went to the Longest Table picnic in Brooklyn Heights, a neighborhood block party, and even I was impressed with my social stamina. I took advantage of my unusual energy surge and swung by Breads in Brooklyn Bridge Park for an iced tea. After some downtime (which, at almost 36 weeks pregnant means sitting and staring into the distance for a while), we went to the Fornino rooftop for an early dinner, and the vibes were perfect. We shared a caesar salad and a gluten-free margarita pizza. I also ordered a strawberry slushie, which made me feel like I was on vacation. Heaven.
I spent way more time than usual on my feet, so I ended the day with a foot massage. Really a 10/10 day that made me feel like I was taking advantage of living in New York. It did cross my mind that this might be the last day like that before I become a mom. Insane.
